What a difference a month makes! (Photos forthcoming...)

Liam turned 10 big months on Sunday!

In the last month he has started to crawl and to "cruise", and gets better every day. He is pulling himself up -- famously in his crib to protest the stupidity of naptime. He is an expert water chugger with his sippy cup (with straw). He is eating a variety of veg, fruit, grain (quinoa!) and meat.

Yesterday he stood on his own (twice) without holding on to anything for daddy.

We are so proud of this boy!

* In preparing our house for sale we've managed to pack away the little cord that links our camera to the computer for image download... We've got more 10 month photos. We just can't show them to you!

First Food! (Garnet Yams)

Look out Mr. McGregor! Liam is on the veggies!

Our pediatrician recommended that we start with orange veggies. So, we hit the produce aisle for some organic garnet yams.  We baked them this morning, skinned them, puree and (voila!), we have baby food!

He did well! and mom managed to keep them out of her hair.

We are sitting!

Liam is now sitting up!  He did this for the first time on Sunday afternoon, while his dad was digging out the neighborhood.

He's still a little wobbly (see below), but he's getting the hang of it.  We are so proud!

I couldn't resist posting the photo below.  He was asleep within 5 minutes of this photo.

We have teeth!

Taking a photo of the inside of your 5 1/2 month old baby's mouth is a little more challenging than you might think.  But if you squint you can see the two little teeth that (finally!) emerged from the little buds Mr. Drooley has been housing for a while.  They broke free last Sunday while Abba and Dado were visiting - good timing!

Well folks, it looks like we have a little snow bunny on our hands.
Liam was completely fascinated with the white stuff falling from the heavens:

5 months! First Flight

We celebrated Liam's 5 month birthday and first flight all on the same day!

Here is the proud flyer with dad at Dulles airport

He was so excited, he took a nap:

On the plane!

And, here he is on the way home.  He's such a pro!

What's in a name?

Recently, a few people have asked whether we have a nickname for Liam. We have loads!

We've got the bears: sweetie bear, sugar bear, honey bear, booger bear, buster bear, baby bear. The pie family is also well-represented: honey pie, cutie pie, sweetie pie, sugar pie.

There's Liam's terrifying alter-ego, angry kitty; don't mess with him. Others include sweetpea, pooperpants, captain buttermilk, lima bean, cúisle (mo chúisle), a stór, baby boi (from his cousine, lara), darling, sugar dumpling. The list goes on and on!

Fourteen Weeks

Let's take a walk down memory lane....

Adding to a few milestones were reported recently, Liam actively grabbed at his feet today.  I know that's not news when put side-to-side with the current health care debate, but it's a big deal to mom and dad.

Sunday with Gram and Grandpa

Liam loves, loves, loves his grandparents!

We had lunch with Gram and Grandpa on Sunday. Liam woke up with a big smile for his grandparents and asked for a snuggle. He got it!

Sunday was also a day of a few firsts for Liam.  While playing with his Gram, he rolled onto his left side! And, after taking in that view for a little while, he rolled back on to back.  You would have thought we had just witnessed Willie Mays' famous 1954 catch; we are so impressed by our little boy.

Later that evening, Liam (deliberately) grabbed at the little buggies on his rocker seat. This isn't the best photo, but you get the idea.

And! this was the first night that Liam slept in his new crib.  A big day!
